Why professors should not sell their review copies

Rule

  • Use these stickers to discourage professors from selling review copies. Contact your Thomson Sales Representative for a supply of these stickers.

Why professors should not sell their review copies:
    • Review copies represent a major expense to publishers.
    • We have tried many alternatives (sample chapters, unbound pages, electronic access) but faculty tell us they want the actual book in their hands in order to make an adoption decision.
    • If a prof sells a review copy, that book then replaces the sale of a new book to students.
    • Selling review copies adds to the increased cost of textbooks for students.
